First arriving in a country

I travel a lot for work, and not always to the best of places.
When you first arrive in a new place you are at your most vulnerable and have a higher potential of being a victim of extortion, or worse.

To counter this, I might do some of the following things (depending on the assessment of the location):Anyone else have any other practices?

Consider a money travel card or credit card with no overseas costs to minimise the amount of cash you need to carry on you and consider something that you can use to carry on your body instead of a bag / wallet in your pocket.
