From 1909 to 1913 Maeda wrestled in Mexico, Costa Rica, Cuba and Brazil where he eventually settled. He is said to have only had two defeats in over 2,000 matches. Yet in the thousand or so matches that he participated in wearing aGi under judo-like rules he was undefeated.
The mount and the guard are two classic techniques employed by Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu players when fighting. The guard is a defensive posture when the opponent is on top of the player he quickly clamps his legs around the waist and the arms, the head or the head and body. The Mount, as the name suggests, is a method of straddling an opponent quickly in order to set up a joint lock such as an arm bar or a head lock, a chokeoutor to further deliver punishing strikes.
